Applying to Harris Westminster Sixth Form
Applications for the next year open on 17th September and close on 5th December 2025. Any applications submitted before 17th September will unfortunately be ignored.
Harris Westminster Sixth Form exists to provide an outstanding academic education for able students from across London, whatever their background. Our admissions process is designed to identify potential as well as achievement. Preference is given to students who have been in receipt of Free School Meals during their secondary schooling, and these make up around half of our students. Our student community therefore comes from a wide variety of social, economic, religious and ethnic backgrounds. It gives our community a wonderful strength.
Entry is by academic test and interview. We are looking for students with both the ability and the ambition to make the most of what we offer. You don’t need to arrive with deep prior knowledge of your chosen subjects, instead, we look for potential and the capacity to thrive in a high-level academic environment.
Applicants sit two entrance exams in subjects chosen from their intended A-Levels and attend one interview in their preferred subject. Offers are conditional on GCSE results: the minimum requirement is at least six grades 7–9, including a 7 (or A) in each chosen subject. In practice, most successful applicants achieve well above this standard.
More than a school, we are a community of scholars, explorers, and future leaders. Therefore, we expect our students to throw themselves into the life of the school, not just in lessons, but in everything that makes our community so distinctive. From thought-provoking lectures and vibrant societies to competitions, clubs, sport, and opportunities to represent HWSF on a larger stage, there is always something to challenge and inspire.
Our students are ambitious learners: they read widely, commit to at least sixteen hours of independent study each week, and use their holidays constructively, combining revision, reading, work experience, and volunteering with well-earned rest and relaxation.
Located in the heart of London, the school is exceptionally well connected, just a short walk from two Underground stations and many major bus routes. There is no catchment area: any student who can travel to Westminster is welcome to apply, with preference given to those living in London boroughs. We are not faith-based — our community brings together students of all faiths and none, united by curiosity, ambition, and a love of learning.
At Harris Westminster Sixth Form, all students study four subjects. This gives you both breadth and depth in your academic programme and helps prepare you for top universities and future careers.
